Beautiful Blue Stool
Krista from The Happy Housie gave this stool a coat of Bliss with some dry brushed Simplicity for a beautiful, distressed, layered colour look that we just love!
Hello everyone! It is Krista from The Happy Housie back again today to share a pretty little stool revamp that I recently did using Bliss and Simplicity.
We have had three of these stools for nearly ten years. I loved them at first...but have kind of moved on from my "red" phase. Not to mention that they are super beat up after years of use.
Because they had quite a glossy finish still and I was feeling too lazy to do a lot of sanding, I decided to do a light sand and then prime them.
After the primer dried, I gave them a couple of coats of Bliss...perhaps my all-time favourite Country Chic colour.
I then used a dry brush to go back over the stools with some Simplicity to give them an aged effect. To do dry brushing, just make sure you wipe most of the paint off of your brush and then feather the paint onto your piece where you want it. The great thing about dry brushing with Country Chic is that if you go too heavy, it is easy to quickly use a slightly damp rag to remove the excess. Perfect for getting exactly the look you want. Click here for more tips on the dry brushing technique.
Once all the paint had dried, I used my beloved wax brush and applied the Clear Wax.
I let the wax dry and then buffed it off with a clean, dry, lint-free cloth.
Done!
I love how this little guy turned out... I have two more of these red stools and I just may do the same thing with them. Or perhaps not...I may try an entirely different colour. I am loving the Country Chic coral colours right now too. Hmm. Such tough decisions!
Thanks for reading. And remember my housie friends, HOME isn't built in a day. Enjoy the journey.
