Botanical Butterfly Wall Art – Glazing
Are you renovating? Don't throw out your old window frames just yet! Come see this beautiful wall display project by Mary from Orphans With MakeUp which she completed with Sage Advice, Graphite glaze, and Clear Coat!
Last winter my husband brought home some old windows he found curb side. Junk, you say? No way!
Here is what I did with one of the taller windows.
I sealed the window frames with two coats of Country Chic Clear Coat on the old chipping paint. This will contain all the old chipping paint, just in case there is any lead paint. When this dried I painted two coats of Sage Advice Country Chic Paint. Now, because I still wanted the windows to look old, I applied some glaze to settle in the nooks and crannies of the weathered window frame. You can see the difference in the image below. Graphite Country Chic glaze was applied on the right side.
I had purchased these ADD-HERES clingy stick-ons a while back and thought it would work for this project. The great thing about these is that they can be lifted and re-positioned.
You can see what a difference adding glaze does. Without the glaze, it would have just looked flat.
I cut out three long lengths of jute cording and braided them together to use as the rope to hang the window. I will eventually nail in some sturdy hooks to hang the rope.
