Charming Farm House Hutch
This beautiful, farmhouse-style hutch was given new life with Vanilla Frosting and Pebble Beach by Cheryl from Shab-2-Fab!I had been envisioning a cute farmhouse hutch for a few months and finally came across the perfect one.
I was ecstatic when I got it home and was able get started on it. I looked it over and noticed it was in great shape, not one dent or scratch. I removed the hardware and glass from the top cabinet doors and gave the entire piece a quick wipe down then began painting. I have been going through a white phase and knew I wanted to paint this hutch in Vanilla Frosting and add beadboard in a different color to the inside.
I did two coats followed by sanding the entire piece with a 150 grit sandpaper to get a really good distress. I then went over the piece again with 400 grit sandpaper to give it that soft buttery texture we all love so much. I had already envisioned this piece with having chicken wire in place of the glass to give it that charming farm house feel. I wanted the chicken wire and hardware to match so I sprayed them both with Rustoleum Oil-Rubbed Bronze spray paint. Once the chicken wire was in I decided I wanted to do the bead board in Pebble Beach. It is such a beautiful, soft gray I knew it would brighten up the dark space inside the hutch while enhancing the chicken wire.
It was hard to let this piece go after having pined over doing it for so long but the story of this hutch is so cute. A thoughtful husband found out his wife loved it so he surprised her with it after I told her it had sold. That's the best part of my job, making someone smile and sending my pieces to happy homes.
