Creamy Farmhouse Dresser
Natalie from A Ray of Sunlight used Vanilla Frosting to give this lovely dresser a farmhouse look!
I'm always amazed at how easily legs and paint can transform a piece. I wasn't a huge fan of the original legs on this dresser, but I loved the amazing quality and build of the dresser.
I started out by taking off the front apron or legs of the dresser by removing a few screws and prying it off. Then I used the circular saw to cut the sides down until I was left with a completely flat bottom. I then simply screwed in new legs with furniture plates and added a piece of trim around the bottom to finish it off.
The new legs really take it from vintage to modern and completely change the feel of the dresser.
Then I stripped off the old stain on the top of the dresser and prepped the bottom with a light sanding and thorough cleaning.
I painted a few coats of Vanilla Frosting onto the base, then lightly distressed with 220 grit sandpaper around the edges. Once all the dust was wiped off, I sealed the paint with 2 coats of Clear Coat for extra durability.
I stained the top with dark walnut wood stain and then wiped on 3 coats of polyurethane to seal it. Then I added new antiqued brass hardware to finish off the farmhouse look.
This vintage dresser took on a complete new modern look with updated legs, new hardware and a fresh finish!
