This hutch makes the perfect addition to any farmhouse kitchen. Crystal from The Driftwood Home built it from a few different pieces of furniture and restored the finish with Elegance!
Have you ever just wanted to build something with the leftovers from other furniture piece you have? I swear I have more scraps of wood, old furniture tops, knobs and parts left over than I do actual furniture. I figured it would be about time to test our building skills and make something that is unique and one of a kind!

I call this the Elegant “Frankenstein Hutch!” A while back I was doing a Frankenstein series on my blog to showcase the projects made with salvaged parts and random paint mixes. But this piece is so pretty all on it’s own! I used leftover leg parts and salvaged wood to make the base. The Hutch top was a remnant from another hutch, but we added a bottom shelf so that it can be hung on the wall.

I sprayed the bases with black spray paint I had lying around. I made sure to concentrate on the areas I wanted to distress. Then I sprayed two coats of Country Chic Paint in the color Elegance. This is probably one of my favorite colors on the Country Chic Paint line. It’s a very duck egg blue with just the slightest hint of green.

I used my orbital sander to rough it up in areas and give it a rustic and shabby chic appearance. It’ worked really well on the details of the legs and around the areas. Then I sprayed three coats of a satin polyurethane to protect it.

I think this piece is perfect for a small cottage or home that needs a place to display all your pretty china without taking up too much space. I plan on bringing it to a craft fair in the next couple of weeks to display all my candles on. What do you think? Have you ever made a Frankenstein piece?
