Silver Metallic Night Tables

I started with these two basic, kind of “blah” night tables.
While my own personal style is not very big on “bling”, metallic pieces can bring life to a rather dull room. I love all white rooms, but the key to make an all-white room look right is to add lots of texture, whether it be in a rug, a piece of pottery, etc., and also to add some sparkle. Like these two night tables. They don’t scream over-the-top flashy, but add just a little sparkle. They would look great side-by-side in a bedroom with a white or light grey upholstered headboard, or even in a dark painted room like I styled them here.
To achieve this look I used Metallic Cream.
I had used the Metallic Creams in the past, mainly to refresh hardware, but it can be used all over furniture too!
I started by painting a base coat of “Simplicity” on the night tables. It’s best to paint the base color as close as possible with the metallic color you are going to use. You also need to wait 12 hours before applying the Metallic Cream.
For my night tables, I used “Silver Bullet” over the white paint. To get full coverage, it takes about 4 coats of the Metallic Cream; however, the more similar your base coat is to the metallic cream you're using, the less coats you'll require.
To bring out the details on the legs and fronts of the drawers, I highlighted just the details with the Antiquing Wax.
It is not necessary to seal the Metallic Cream with wax, although you can if you wanted to.
I also replaced the old hardware with these mercury-glass knobs. I think they are a much better fit with their new sparkle.
I personally found it best to paint in the direction of the wood grain, with long quick strokes.
Now, did you notice my chalk-drawn chandelier? In case you are wondering how to draw fine precise lines with chalk, it’s done with Chalk Board pens!
