In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to transform an old white piece of furniture using Driftwood and our Smoky Quartz Glaze. The result? A beautifully rustic, wood-inspired finish that’s full of character and charm.

🎨 What You’ll Need
- Country Chic Paint – Driftwood
- Country Chic Paint Glaze – Smoky Quartz
- A thick bristle paint brush
- A lint-free cloth for wiping away excess glaze
Step 1: Paint Your Base Color
Start by cleaning your furniture and giving it a light sand if needed. Then apply 1–2 coats of Driftwood, a muted brown that’s perfect for creating a weathered wood base. Allow the paint to dry completely before you move on to the glazing step.
Step 2: Apply Smoky Quartz Glaze
Now for the fun part! Using a thick bristle paint brush, apply Smoky Quartz Glaze in long, even strokes, following the direction of the wood grain. The stiffer bristles will naturally leave subtle lines and texture that mimic the look of real wood grain.
Don’t worry about making it perfect — this look is meant to be a little rustic and organic.
Step 3: Adjust Your Texture
If the grain looks too heavy or dark, simply use a damp lint-free cloth to gently wipe away some of the glaze until you get the softness and depth you like. The glaze will stay in the grooves and brush strokes, highlighting the texture you’ve created and adding beautiful dimension.
You can always add more glaze or build it up in layers for a deeper, more dramatic finish!
Step 4: Optional Protection
Once your piece has completely dried, seal it with Clear Coat if you’d like a little extra protection and durability — especially for tabletops or high-use furniture.
🌿 The Finished Look
And there you have it — a gorgeous, wood-like texture that brings warmth and natural character to your painted piece! The combination of Driftwood and Smoky Quartz Glaze gives a timeless, rustic feel that works beautifully in farmhouse, coastal, and cottage-style spaces.
