Step 1: Prep your walls

Great results start with proper preparation.

Make sure your surfaces are:

  • Clean
  • Dry
  • Structurally sound
  • Free from dust, grease, mildew, and loose paint

Lightly sand glossy surfaces using 120–180 grit sandpaper to improve adhesion.

Fill any cracks or holes with a suitable filler and allow repairs to dry completely before painting.

Use painter’s tape to protect trim, ceilings, and adjacent surfaces. Remove outlet and switch covers, and store them safely with their screws (a Ziploc bag works perfectly for this).

Lay down a drop cloth to protect your floors.

Do I need to prime?

A primer is not required for most previously painted, properly prepared walls.

However, we recommend priming when:

  • Painting new drywall or bare plaster
  • Covering stains (such as water or smoke damage)
  • Painting over very dark colors
  • Working with porous or repaired areas

Priming helps create a more even surface and improves overall coverage.

Applying your first coat

Stir your paint thoroughly before use.

Start by cutting in edges with a synthetic brush. Then use your roller to apply a thin, even coat.

For best results:

  • Use a microfiber roller (10 mm / 3/8" nap)
  • Work in sections and maintain a wet edge to avoid lap marks
  • Apply with consistent pressure for a smooth finish

This paint has excellent flow and leveling, helping to minimize brush and roller marks as it dries.

Allow the first coat to dry for approximately 4 hours before recoating.

Tip: Wrap brushes and rollers in a sealed plastic bag between coats to keep them from drying out.

Additional coats

Apply a second coat using the same method.

Two coats are typically sufficient for full coverage, color depth, and durability.
If needed, a third coat can be applied after allowing proper drying time between coats.

Drying & Curing

  • Dry to the touch: about 1 hour
  • Recoat time: approximately 4 hours

Once fully cured (about 30 days), the finish becomes durable and washable, making it ideal for everyday living spaces.

Cleanup

Clean brushes, rollers, and tools with warm, soapy water immediately after use.

Rinse thoroughly until the water runs clear, reshape brushes, and allow everything to dry completely before storing.

Dispose of any leftover paint and materials according to your local municipal guidelines, and recycle empty cans where possible.

Final Tips

  • Apply in temperatures above 10°C (42°F) and below 85% humidity
  • For best results, use high-quality tools
  • Always test your color in your space before committing
