In this tutorial company co-founder, Rosanne will show you how to mix Texture Powder with furniture paint and how to use it to add special effects to your furniture.

Option 1) Embossed Stencil Designs

Step 1) Mix Texture Powder with paint

Measure off some Country Chic Paint and pour it in a plastic cup. Measure off the same amount of Texture Powder and add it to the cup with paint. Use a stir stick to mix well until you have a butter cream icing consistency. We recommend you start with with a 1:1 ratio, however, you can always add some extra paint or extra powder is your mixture is too thick or too thin for your liking.

Step 2) Lay down your stencil

For a small project like this you can simply hold the stencil in place with your hands. However, if you are working with a larger stencil, you may find it easier to secure your stencil with spray adhesive or painters tape.

Step 3) Spread the textured paint

Using a spatula, putty knife, or even an old bank card, apply a thin coat of your textured paint over the entire stencil. Make sure you don’t apply it too thickly or you may see some cracks forming as the finish dries. Smooth it out gently and don’t go over it too many times.

When your finish is smooth, gently peel off your stencil.

Step 4) Apply another paint color

If you’re going for a fun, distressed look, apply a final coat of paint in a contrasting color. You won’t have to mix in any of the Texture Powder in this final coat of paint.

Step 5) Distress

After your final paint coat has dried for a couple of hours you can use your favorite distressing technique to reveal some of the paint layer underneath!

Option 2) Rustic Layered Finish

Step 1) Mix Texture Powder with paint

Measure off some Country Chic Paint and pour it in a plastic cup. Measure off the same amount of Texture Powder and add it to the cup with paint. Use a stir stick to mix well until you have a butter cream icing consistency. We recommend you start with with a 1:1 ratio, however, you can always add some extra paint or extra powder is your mixture is too thick or too thin for your liking.

Step 2) Apply to your piece

Using a paint brush, dab the textured paint onto your project to create a random looking texture. Don’t try to make this look perfect.

Now, let it dry for 15-20 minutes until it starts to dry and tack up. Then, use your paint brush again to gently smooth down the finish. You don’t want to remove all of the texture, just some of the higher points. Let it dry completely (approximately 12 hours) before moving on to the last step.

Tip: if your project has tried too long and it has completely dried before you had a chance to even out the texture, you can wet the paint lightly with a wet paint brush and then use an old bank card or a putty knife to smooth down the finish.

Step 3) Paint over top & distress

For a fun, distressed look, apply a final coat of paint in a contrasting color. You won’t have to mix in any of the Texture Powder in this final coat of paint.

After your final paint coat has dried for a couple of hours you can use your favorite distressing technique to reveal some of the paint layer underneath!

POUDRE DE TEXTURE

Notre Poudre de texture facile d’usage est un additif de peinture à base de minéraux pour vous aider à créer des finis uniques. Mélangez environ 1 partie de poudre dans 1 partie de Country Chic Paint. Mélangez bien pour créer une consistance lisse qui ressemble à du beurre d’arachides. POLVO TEXTURIZADOR

Nuestro Polvo Texturizador fácil de usar es un aditivo mineral para pintura que le permite crear acabados únicos. Mezcle aproximadamente 1 parte de polvo con 1 parte de pintura Country Chic Paint. Revuelva bien hasta obtener una textura similar a la mantequilla de maní. Con una brocha, aplique la pintura texturizada sobre su proyecto. Deje secar por 15 a 20 minutos hasta que la pintura comience a secarse y adherirse. Posteriormente, rebaje suavemente la pintura con una brocha, pero sin quitar toda la textura. Deje secar por completo. Posteriormente aplique una capa de pintura de un color contrastante y revele la capa de pintura inferior, utilizando su técnica de desgastado favorita.
